Academy Tuition and Financial Aid


Information about the Police Academy Tuition, Fees, and Financial Assistance.

TUITION

Tuition & Fees for Basic Peace Officer Course is $2,904.77.

Tuition includes professional instruction in Basic Peace Officer I, II, III, IV and V.  For a description of each of these courses follow the WECM (Course Descriptions) page.  

Fees for Basic Peace Officer Course include: 1 uniform polo, 1 PT t-shirt, 1 uniform jacket, 2 textbooks, Pre-admission backgroud check, CPR certification, Ammunition for firearms training, and Supplemental insurance policy.

Tuition and fees must be paid in full prior to the first day of class. Payment must be given to the Cashier’s Office and is payable on any Navarro College location. No funds will be accepted at the Police Academy.  Agencies paying by check should make checks payable to Navarro College Police Academy and have the cadets Student ID number referenced in the memo line.

 

TEXTBOOKS AND UNIFORMS

Students will be notified via email upon registration completion and should go to the bookstore of the campus they are attending to purchase the textbooks and uniform items.

 

FINANCIAL AID

Financial Aid is available to Basic Peace Officer students who qualify. It takes several weeks to process the application and to receive your approved benefits. SCHOLARSHIPS

The Officer Brent Thompson Memorial Scholarship was established in 2016 by the family, friends, and community in loving memory of Brent Thompson. He was a 1997 graduate of the Navarro College Police Academy and served almost two decades in the law enforcement for the Corsicana Police department and the Dallas Dart Police department. This scholarship is open to all police academy applicants who reside in Navarro or Ellis counties.  The funds may be used for tuition, books, and fees.  Apply for the Officer Brent Thompson Memorial Scholarship.

MILITARY/VETERANS

Veterans/Texas Veterans may qualify for financial aid through the Veterans Certifying Official at Navarro College. It takes several weeks to process Veterans benefits. Please apply well in advance of the course start date. For qualification information on the Hazelwood Act, please go to: www.navarrocollege.edu/veterans/state-benefits/ or contact the Military & Veterans Office, Veterans Certifying Official at (903) 875-7347.

 

AGENCY SPONSORED STUDENTS

*It is highly recommended for Agencies to contact Academy Personnel prior to having an employee begin the application process.*

Sponsorship is NOT a requirement of attendance.

Agencies and Agency Sponsored Cadets will need to complete the forllowing:

  1. Navarro College Application for Admissions.

  2. Navarro College Police Academy Application.

  3. Submit documents from the Agency hiring packet:

  • Verification of eligibilty to enroll in a TCOLE Licensing Course.

  • Law Enforcement Agency Audit Checklist

  • TCOLE BCF Form

  • Copies of supporting documents from cadets employee file (i.e., TX Driver License, SSN card, Birth Certificate, DD-214, HS Diploma, etc.)

 

REFUND INFORMATION

Refunds for Continuing Education courses WILL NOT be offered after the first day of class.
