Veterans and Military Families

Veterans and military families – welcome to Navarro College!

Navarro began offering classes in September 1946. Most members of the first student body were returning Veterans from World War II looking to take advantage of assistance available under the newly enacted GI Bill® of Rights. We continue to proudly serve Veteran students to this day. Navarro College is committed to helping you succeed as you transition from military to college life.

1. APPLY FOR ADMISSION

We encourage students to apply online at ApplyTexas since it speeds up your admission process dramatically. Visit applytexas.org to get started.

NOTE: PROOF OF RESIDENCY

In Texas, a student enrolling in an institution of higher education, must have lived in Texas the one year (12 months) proceeding the first date of enrollment to be classified a Texas resident for tuition purpose. If you have attended school or resided out-of-state, additional proof of residency may be required, and the Office of Admissions reserves the right to determine the validity of documents submitted.

2. PLACEMENT TESTING

Students must take a state-approved placement test and submit test scores at the time of registration. Students otherwise qualified will not be refused admission on the basis of their scores. These results are used in advising and placing students in proper sections of certain course areas. Tests are given at each campus Testing Center by appointment. A photo ID is required and students must complete the Pre-Assessment Activity (PAA) prior to taking the TSI Assessment for the first time.

3. BACTERIAL MENINGITIS VACCINATION

All first-time students attending Navarro College, including transfer students as well as students who are not continuously enrolled in fall or spring semesters since Fall 2011, will be required to show evidence of vaccination against bacterial meningitis. Evidence of the student having received the vaccination from an appropriate health practitioner within the past five years must be received in the Navarro College Admissions at least ten days prior to the student’s first day in class.

Exceptions and additional information about this policy can be found on the Navarro College Policy Regarding Bacterial Meningitis page.

4. SUBMIT HIGH SCHOOL/COLLEGE TRANSCRIPTS

Students need to submit a sealed official high school or college transcripts in person to the Office of Admissions or send directly to:

Navarro College
Office of Admissions
3200 W. 7th Avenue
Corsicana, TX 75110

All active duty, reserve, and Veteran students must submit any military transcripts awarded. You can request transcripts to be sent to Navarro College:

  • Army, Navy, Marine Corps, and Coast Guard: https://jst.doded.mil/

  • Air Force: https://www.airuniversity.af.edu/Barnes/CCAF/Display/Article/803247/community-college-of-the-air-force-transcripts/

A partnership between the Texas Workforce Commission and the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board to ensure that active duty, former, and retired military personnel receive the credit they earned for their service to our country.

Use the College Credit for Heroes website to request an evaluation of military educational experience that may count toward your college degree.
