Uniforms, Equipment, and Supplies


Navarro College Police Academy uniform polos, physical training t-shirt, and uniform jackets are sold exclusively at the Navarro College Bookstore to cadets showing proof of registration in the current Police Academy Class.  Each cadet is responsible for the purchase and upkeep of their uniform items.

Additional Police Academy items available include:

  • Police Academy hoodie

  • Police Academy ball cap

Uniform boots, duty gear, holster and other uniform supplies and equipment required may be purchased from online vendors or uniform supply stores.  See the Uniform List section below for more information. Uniform pants will be LA Police Gear Terrain Flex Chino Pant and may be purchased using the link in the Uniform List section below.

 

TEXTBOOK LIST

  • Texas Criminal Law & Traffic Law Manual – current edition.

  • National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) Standardized Field Sobriety Testing Manual - current edition.

Books are available at the Navarro College Bookstore and MUST be purchased prior the start of the first day of class.

 

SUPPLY LIST

  • Pens

  • Paper

  • Highlighters, etc.

  • Index cards for use as flashcards (approximately 500)

  • Large 3 ring binder

 

UNIFORM LIST

  • Academy Polo shirt (NC Bookstore) - Multiple needed

  • White crew neck undershirt - Multiple needed

  • Uniform pants: LA Police Gear Terrain Flex Chino Pant (Color: Khaki) - Multiple needed ORDER YOUR UNIFORM PANTS »

  • Black uniform trouser belt

  • Black, polishable uniform boots (no pointed toes, tennis shoes, or slip-on low quarter shoes).

  • Black Police Academy Jacket (NC Bookstore)

 

Basic Peace Officer students will begin the academy in professional dress for the first week.  

  • Examples of professional dress for male students include dress pants or suit slacks, button front, collared and long sleeve shirt, neck tie, belt and dress shoes. 

  • Examples of professional dress for female cadets include pant suits or dress slacks and shirt or blouse and appropriate closed toe footwear.

 

WORKOUT APPAREL

  • Black shorts or sweat pants (spandex,biker shorts and other tight fitting material must be accompanied with additional covering shorts black in color)

  • Grey Academy T-shirt (NC Bookstore) - Multiple needed

  • Workout shoes

All Basic Peace Officer students will be required to participate in skills training and physical conditioning training.

 

EQUIPMENT LIST

  • Black Leather or Nylon Police Style Duty Belt

  • Black Leather/Nylon/Kydex double magazine pouch for Glock 17

  • Level III Holster for Glock 17/22 (may be other than leather) - If a weapon light bearing holster is purchased you must purchase a corresponding weapon light for that holster. (Weapon light and Weapon light holster are not required equipment.)

  • Four (4) black Leather or Nylon belt keepers

  • Hearing Protection for gun range

  • One (1) pair of clear safety glasses

  • One (1) pair of handcuffs with key

  • One (1) black Leather or Nylon handcuff case

  • Flashlight for firearms training and searching (Does not have to be expensive. Recommended to have a tailcap/single function activation switch)

 

Equipment may be purchased at any law enforcement supply company.  The Navarro College Bookstore does not carry Law Enforcement equipment.  

Duty belts and equipment are not required for the first day of class.  These items may be purchased after the academy begins.

Handguns are provided by the Police Academy for use at the firing range.

Under no circumstances are students allowed to be in possession of personal firearms while on campus or at Police Academy facilities.

Possession of personal firearms on campus (other than secured inside your locked vehicle) or any Police Academy premises is grounds for dismissal from the Police Academy. 

This also applies to a person who holds a license to carry a handgun.
