GED Test


The GED test is a high school equivalency examination developed by the GED Testing Service of the American Council on Education. The credential received for passing the test is widely recognized by colleges, training schools, and employers as equivalent to a high school diploma.

In 2014 you have more than just a test. You’ll have access to MyGED™ your online portal to sign up, study, schedule, check scores, and learn about jobs and college.

WHAT’S THE 2014 GED® TEST LIKE?

The GED® test has been updated to make sure it measures what graduating high school seniors know and what colleges and employers will expect of you.

Four (4) parts:

  • Science (90 minutes)

  • Social Studies (90 minutes)

  • Reasoning Through Language Arts (150 minutes including a 10-minute break)

  • Mathematical Reasoning (90 minutes)

 Offered on computer & in English / Spanish

 

WHERE CAN I STUDY?

Contact Navarro College’s Adult Education program at (903) 875-7464 or sign up for MyGED™ at www.GED.com and click on “Study” to find tools, free practice test questions, and GED Ready™: The Official Practice Test.

 

HOW DO I REGISTER?

Registration is simple in 2014. Simply sign up for MyGED™ at www.GED.com and you will get information about local policies, how to request modified testing conditions (accommodations), or you’ll be able to schedule right then.

 

WHEN CAN I SCHEDULE?

Scheduling is available 24 hours a day 7 days a week with MyGED™ at www.GED.com. Log in and click on “Schedule Test” on the top. Once you complete the scheduling questions you’ll be directed to choose your language, subject, and the day and time that works best for you to test. You can also schedule one test at a time to make sure you feel prepared every time.

 

WHAT IS THE PASSING SCORE?

On the 2014 GED® test you need to earn at least 145 points on each subject to pass. To find out if you’re likely to pass, take GED Ready™: The Official Practice Test and the only test that can tell you if you’re likely to pass. Sign into MyGED™ at www.GED.com to get ready with GED Ready™.

 

IS THERE A FEE TO TAKE THE TEST?

You can pay as you go with the GED® test. This means you can pay for each subject individually or when you are ready to test. In Texas, the fee per subject is $36.25 per module or $145 for the entire test. The retake fee is $16.25 per module.

WHAT CAN I EXPECT ON THE DAY OF MY TEST?

  • Current and valid Government-issued photo ID (both national and foreign)

  • Examples of Photo ID include Texas Driver’s License, Texas State ID card, valid Passport, and Military/Government ID card.

  • The name you use to register for the GED® CBT must match the name on your photo ID.

  • Personal items cannot be taken into the testing room. Lockers will be provided for secure storage of your belongings.There is a calculator built into the test for your use during the mathematics portion.

Prohibited items include (but are not limited to): jewelry, watches, wallets, keys, cell phones, food, drinks, gum, tobacco products, hats, outdoor/heavy coats, purses, bags, etc.

  • If you schedule more than one test subject in a single appointment, you will have a maximum of ten minutes for breaks between each module.

You may divide your test into multiple appointments to be taken over the course of several days. You get to set the schedule you prefer during our available days and times.

If you would like to take the entire test in one day and prefer a longer break for lunch, you might consider dividing the test modules into two separate appointments for the same day, allotting the desired break time between appointments. 

 

If you have completed and passed the GED® and need a transcript, you may go to www.texged.com and purchase an official GED® transcript for $5; verification of a certificate can also be obtained from the official website free of charge.
