“I grew up in the small town of Wortham. I began taking dual credit my freshman year of high school and instantly loved that the faculty and staff was very helpful and dedicated to helping me achieve my goals. As an only child, family is very important to me. I can honestly say that the faculty of NC has accepted me with open arms and treated me like a piece of family I have never had.
My favorite part of NC was being able to conduct experiments in the lab with my chemistry courses. Not all universities get the opportunity to perform them, but Navarro has a very nice lab setup.
NC has made a vast impact on me inside and outside of the classroom. Although I am thankful for all members of the staff and faculty at NC, several individuals have impacted me in a way that I will not forget. Mrs. Moody with TRIO has given me more knowledge, guidance, and advice than I could ever imagine. She has provided a helping hand for me no matter the circumstances or situation. Dr. Haney has challenged me while taking chemistry 1 and 2 and allowed me to better understand my intellectual abilities by pushing his students to learn and understand the information. Professor Bean has been a joy to take for 3 different classes and she has prepared me for my next step in the medical field through her teachings. Lastly, Dr. Stringer and others have given me the opportunity to pursue this degree by choosing me as a recipient of the Caston Scholarship and I am so grateful for that. So many NC staff have helped me in one way or another along my path of education and I am forever thankful.
I am attending the Texas A&M School of Dentistry with a major in Dental Hygiene. After that, I plan to return to the Navarro County area and give back to those who have given to me.”
