Child Development

The Child Development program provides the student an in-depth opportunity to study the overall development of the child. This program is designed to give the student a practical working knowledge of the child. This program is offered completely online. The Child Development Program is designed to prepare students to make a positive difference in the growing field of early childhood education. This program prepares successful graduates with the knowledge to understand the needs of young children, including children with special needs and the resources to develop appropriate learning environments for them. Criteria for quality early childhood programs developed by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) have been incorporated into course content. The Associate of Applied Science degree and one certificate is offered. Every student must complete and pass a background check, and be accepted into a licensed child care program to participate in classroom observations required by various courses in the program.
